How Qualifications Are Checked

You can trust our strict hiring policies

Dedicated and well-trained employees are the backbone of Home Care Specialist’ services and success. We understand that the most important aspect of in-home care is having a caregiver who is competent and trustworthy. So we put extra effort into screening potential caregivers for those qualities, which is a two-part process.

First, Home Care Specialists only hires caregivers who meet our exacting standards. They have to:

  • Verify 1-to-2 years of in-home care experience;
  • Provide positive references;
  • Communicate with clients in a clear and helpful manner;
  • Treat and care for clients and their property with dignity and respect;
  • Speak, write and read the English language;
  • Speak and interpret competently if hired as a bilingual employee;
  • Pass background and medical checks.

In addition, the name of every potential new caregiver is screened through an extensive background check that may include some or all of the following:

  • National Criminal Database search;
  • Unlimited County Criminal searches;
  • Department of Motor Vehicle report;
  • U.S. residency check for past 7 years;
  • Social Security trace;
  • National Sex Offender Registry search;
  • National Want and Warrant search;
  • Administrative Office of the Courts search;
  • Department of Public Safety search;
  • Office of Foreign Assets Control list;
  • FBI Wanted Terrorist and Fugitive list;
  • U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency wanted list.
